Sundog Firearms - Rizzini

Rizzini

The Original Rizzini... the well known and often imitated design which has been so successful in Europe now for over 30 years. Why Rizzini?

Rizzini over under shotguns boast an incredibly high level of dependability and durability due to the advanced design and manufacturing processes used in their creation.

Interchangability Key

Rizzini produces most components in-house with sophisticated computer controlled machinery, thereby reducing manufacturing tolerances and allowing interchangeability unheard of by other makers.

The ability to manufacture their components to such close tolerances dramatically reduces the requirement for final hand fitting and thereby reduces the possibility of human error. The result is a shotgun that has great appearance, style and handling characteristics, with the reliability and ease of service required by the 21st century shooter.

1. Rather than using castings like most of our competitors, Rizzini machines their components from the best possible steel forgings and solid billets available, using costly state of the art technology, thereby assuring maximum strength and durability for the demanding shooter. When cast parts are used, the tolerances of the finished parts are not as close as when parts are machined- correct machining provides better surface finishes, improving fit between parts.

2. All guns have the patented Rizzini disconnect safety system – preventing the gun from being fired unless completely closed.

3. Target models have extra long forcing cones.  All target models except Vertex have a slidingadjustable trigger.

4. All models have chrome lined bores.

5. Barrel ribs are furnace brazed assuring stress free bores and exceptional rib joint strength.

6. Barrels are constructed with time proven Monoblock design.

7. Superior ejector system contained solely in the jeweled Monoblock.  In this original Rizzini system, no troublesome moving forend levers are used to time the release of the ejectors. Should the ejectors ever need retiming, this is accomplished by merely adjusting the ejector sears which are easily removed from the Monoblock. For cocking the hammers, a strong single cocking piece serves to depress the cocking bars upon opening the action rather than a system using forend levers, which can break and /or cause the ejectors to prematurely fire. Many other makers have now copied this ejector design.

8. Triggers have nice smooth pull and are gunsmith adjustable for over travel and engagement. The development of the Rizzini single trigger system is one of the significant advances in firearms engineering technology in recent years. This system uses the convention placement of hammers in the trigger plate and the sears on the underside of the top tang. The advantage of this hammer/sear placement is nice trigger pull, the disadvantage of this in earlier systems is the possibility of doubling or inconsistent trigger pull weight if the upper and lower tangs are able to move. In the Rizzini system, the trigger plate is machined from solid stock with a vertical stanchion which serves to retain the sears in the same body as the hammer. The result is a clean., crisp trigger pulls with ultimate reliability.

9. Target models have fore-end iron, which is adjustable for opening/closing tension of gun by simple Allen screw adjustment. Other manufacturer’s products require sophisticated welding and re-working of parts in order to achieve a smooth and efficient opening and closing of the action after the gun has had substantial use.

10. The Rizzini system is one of the strongest and most durable action/ barrel coupling designs. Five different sized locking bolts are available should the gun ever need action tightening. The diameter of the hinge trunions are much grater than most of the other makers, giving greater strength and durability to the opening and closing function of the shotgun.

11. Guns are provided with five screw in choke tubes (Extended tubes with target models).

12. Forend release uses efficient pushrod design, leaving the underside of the forend  solid.

13. Three different action sizes available.

14. Hard case furnished with each gun.

15. Limited Lifetime Warranty
